Women and non binary creatives living at the margins. Rarely making a fair living, often underpaid, and usually financially unsupported. Setting up an online store can be expensive, time consuming and unachievable for many artists. Many creatives don’t know how to price their product, how to reach an audience or how to value and sell what they create. The barriers to entry are significant and diverse. Digital marketplaces are winner-takes-all designs driven by systems that create real and significant barriers to entry, including data biases, brand power, access to capital, scale and scope. Platforms are traditionally built to profit the few and artists are being devalued and stripped of independence and power.
We are actively shifting that playing field, building a cooperative community platform that nourishes the artistic community. Flock is a collective of women and non-binary souls disrupting the way online business is done. Flock is an online marketplace that uses data, brand power and community to build communities of choice.
Put your money where your heart is.
This campaign will support us to reach those women and non-binary artists with the greatest need by:
- working with communities to onboard disadvantaged artists
- Build the brand to support the community
- Support and troubleshoot the first release of Flock artisan market owners to test the platform
